HE LONG TRADITION OF THE GRAMMAR SCHOOL IN MOSTAR

The Grammar school in Mostar was built in the distant past in the year 1893, when it began with its work. That is very important date in the history of Mostar. With construction of grammar schools there were made main differences all across our country in the way of education and our Mostar Grammar school was very famous and an original in Bosnia and Herzegovina, because all generations gave many great intellectuals. The students of the Grammar school were winning many first places on the National championships in different school subjects and disciplines. Today, after everything that we have been through, we are trying to remain the long tradition of the Grammar school in Mostar, because we are its successors. Our school is the most current school in the town of Mostar and 350 - 400 pupils attend that school because we don’t have our own building anymore.

However, although we are not very roomy there are still many different sections in our school, souch as drama, young journalists, poetry, eko-section and other

Drama section includes about ten pupils and they are always hard working because they are one of the main roles in many school shows. The pupils think up different showes all by themselves, and that is what makes them even better. Young joumalists section is active, too. It is publishing the magazine ”Gimnazijalac” (pupil of a grammar school) which contains different subjects from many areas such as language, literature, poetry, school activities, music, film, sports, etc, etc.

In our school pupils are also very active in different projects such was the project ”ClVITAS”. On that project we worked very hard so we came to the National championship where we won the first place in category ”Visual presentation”. There are also competitions in different school subjects such as Physics and Mathematic, where we are also very successful.

We, the pupils of the Grammar school, are hoping that the old building of our school will soon be reconstructed and that we will soon be educated in that kind of building. We will try to continue the long and envious tradition of the Grammar school in Mostar and the future generations will give many excellent pupils and intelectuals, too.
