The bast way to start the informations about Secondary medical school, is using the words of the principals Mrs. Senija Šoše: “Today we start from the beginning.”

To the unfortune and sadness of the students and the city, there are two medical schools in Mostar.

War government of Mostar decided to organize secondary schools in basements, and start the education in automn 1993. Secondary medical school is located in the building of the elementary school in Tekija. Limited with space and equipment professors were doing their best to give the pupils enough knowledge and practical work. Pupils at Secondary medical school have a possibility of choice – to become a nurse or laboratory tehnician.

With help of humanitarian organisations, practical work for first two years can be done in classrooms of the school, while the third and fourth year have practical work at the hospitals departmens. With will and strenght the school managed to go through the hard times.

Today, Secondary medical school has 8 selected classes, with total of 250 students. There are 80 boys and 170 girls. We have 15 major subjects with qualified tutors. Free activities of the Secondary medical school include the projects “Civitas” and “Promotion of health”. There are also sections – newspapers, drama, literal etc. where several students are contributing with their work. The school also has a newspaper called “The medical worker”. Judging by the words of the principal, these activities will continue in the future. The students hope that some day they Il be able to express the gradatude to the professors, and make them proud of the new medical workers.
