Mostar is
different from the most of cities in Bosnia and
Herzegovina because it does not have a Sport Hall
or a bigger sport center. The people who want to
take up sports, especially young people, even
though they have strong will, they give up soon
the idea due to lack of equipment and space. That
is why Mostar takes the last place in the most of
sports in Bosnia and Herzegovina. A sport hall
located at the sport center "Mithad
Hujdur-Hujka" has been under construction
for years and many people have already lost their
hope that the building will be useful for them in
the near future.
But, everything
is not so dark as it seems. A sport hall recently
built located at the children village, is rather
small and inappropriate but it gives certain
opportunities concerning some kind of sports. The
building was build for the children without
parents, so the others do not have too much use
of it.
Few days ago a new sport hall was opened within
the Second elementary school in Mostar. There is
a lot space and equipment needed for a sport to
be properly worked out. It was built by help of
Jordan government who had given valuable donation
for the construction. The construction that
lasted since the last August was finished by the
members of French brigade SFOR.
It is obvious that Bosnia and Herzegovina is not
enough independent yet to build sports halls and
the others facilities by itself, so we shall need
a great deal of help from the foreigners in the
next millennium. Even though the list of sport
halls and other facilities that Mostar need is
very long, we shall be gratified by this sport
hall for now. We shall use it in a good way.
Youth of Mostar should learn to use their spare
time in the best possible way doing something
useful instead spending their time sitting at
coffee bars and dark ruins doing different kind
of suspicious things.
We only hope
that world will not forget us after this kind act
and that we will get soon a cinema, a swimming
pool, a disco club ... I could list them up to
the morning.
